What Is It?

Understanding Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain — typically 0.5–0.7 mm thick — that are permanently bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They are one of the most powerful cosmetic dentistry treatments available, capable of correcting colour, shape, length, surface texture, and minor alignment issues in a single coordinated treatment plan. At MEDICUS, we use e.max pressed porcelain and Digital Smile Design (DSD) software to ensure every set of veneers is designed with precision and looks completely natural against each patient's unique facial features.

Who Is It For?

Is This Treatment Right for You?

Veneers are ideal for patients in good dental health who want a dramatic aesthetic improvement. They address chipped, cracked, or fractured teeth, severe or intrinsic staining (such as tetracycline discolouration that whitening cannot treat), minor crowding or gaps between teeth, worn-down teeth, and teeth that are too small or uneven. Patients need sufficient enamel thickness for bonding.

Step-by-Step Process

What to Expect at MEDICUS

We believe informed patients have better outcomes. Here is every step of your Dental Veneers journey.

1

Digital Smile Design Consultation

We take high-resolution photographs and a full-face video. Using Digital Smile Design software, we mock up your new smile digitally so you can preview the result before any treatment begins.

2

Mock-Up & Approval

A temporary wax or composite mock-up is placed over your teeth so you can see and feel the proposed result in your mouth. We refine until you are fully satisfied.

3

Minimal Tooth Preparation

Under local anesthesia, a thin layer of enamel (0.3–0.7 mm) is gently removed from the front surface of each tooth to create space for the veneer. The amount removed is kept to an absolute minimum.

4

Digital Impression

A precise 3D intraoral scan is taken and sent to our ceramic laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed immediately to protect the prepared teeth and let you preview the final look.

5

Porcelain Veneer Fabrication

Our ceramist hand-crafts each veneer using e.max pressed porcelain, layering and characterising for natural depth, translucency, and colour variation. This process takes approximately 7–10 days.

6

Bonding & Final Polishing

Each veneer is tried in dry for shade and fit approval, then permanently bonded using light-cured adhesive cement. The bite is checked and the veneers are finished and polished to perfection.

Aftercare Instructions

How to Care for Your Treatment

Following these instructions ensures the best healing and longest-lasting result.

1

Avoid biting hard objects — ice cubes, pen lids, hard bread crusts — as these can chip porcelain

2

Use a non-abrasive toothpaste (avoid whitening pastes which can dull the surface over time)

3

Wear a custom night guard if you grind or clench your teeth (bruxism is a primary cause of veneer failure)

4

Floss carefully daily using a water flosser or gentle sliding motion at the veneer margins

5

Limit consumption of red wine, black tea, and coffee especially in the first 48 hours

6

Attend regular 6-month check-ups so we can monitor the margins and bonding integrity

5 stars for their skill, availability, and professionalism. Highly recommended. They redid my mouth and smile in 4 days. My new teeth are beautiful.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Dental Veneers at MEDICUS.

How many veneers do I need for a complete smile makeover?

Most patients opt for 6–10 veneers to achieve a harmonious result across the visible smile zone. In some cases, just 4–6 front teeth are treated. During your consultation we map out exactly which teeth are visible when you smile.

Do veneers look fake or obvious?

Not with modern porcelain. Well-designed veneers are characterised with subtle colour variations, surface texture, and translucency at the edges — exactly like natural enamel. The key is in the design phase, which is why we use Digital Smile Design and involve you in every decision.

Is the procedure reversible?

Because a thin layer of enamel is removed to accommodate the veneer, the treatment is considered permanent — the enamel cannot grow back. For patients who want a fully reversible option, composite bonding or no-prep veneers may be alternatives worth discussing at consultation.

Can I whiten my veneers if they discolour?

Porcelain veneers are highly stain-resistant and do not respond to whitening treatments. If you are considering whitening, we recommend whitening your natural teeth BEFORE veneer fabrication so we can match the new, brighter shade.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With proper care and regular check-ups, porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years before needing replacement. The main risk factors are bruxism (tooth grinding), not wearing a night guard, and biting hard objects.
